Grant Program Information

The WIN TODAY! Richardson Family Foundation recognizes the profound impact that access to quality extracurricular programming can have on the lives of children, particularly those from low-income backgrounds. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, learn, and grow in a supportive and enriching environment. That's why we are pleased to announce the launch of the "WIN TODAY!" grant program.

Program Overview: The "WIN TODAY!" grant program is designed to support organizations seeking access to impactful programming. Through this program, we aim to empower children with the skills, resources, and opportunities they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Funding Priorities: We are seeking grant applications from organizations who are seeking support in one of the four following areas:

Sports and Athletic Programs

  • Team Sports: Soccer, basketball, football, rugby, volleyball, etc.

  • Individual Sports: Tennis, golf, swimming, track and field, gymnastics, etc.

  • Combat Sports: Boxing, wrestling, judo, karate, mixed martial arts (MMA), etc.

  • Racquet Sports: Tennis, badminton, squash, table tennis, etc.

  • Extreme Sports: Skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, rock climbing, etc.

  • Winter Sports: Skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, ice hockey, etc.

  • Endurance Sports: Marathon running, triathlon, cycling, long-distance swimming, etc.

  • Water Sports: Sailing, rowing, canoeing, kayaking, water polo, etc.

  • Target Sports: Archery, shooting, darts, etc.

  • Martial Arts: Judo, karate, taekwondo, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, etc.

Creative Arts

  • Visual Arts: Painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, printmaking, etc.

  • Performing Arts: Theater, dance, music, opera, circus arts, etc.

  • Literature: Fiction, poetry, non-fiction, drama, etc.

  • Design: Graphic design, fashion design, interior design, industrial design, etc.

  • Film and Media: Filmmaking, animation, digital media, video production, etc.

  • Crafts: Pottery, woodworking, jewelry making, quilting, etc.

  • Culinary Arts: Cooking, baking, pastry making, etc.

  • Architecture: Design and construction of buildings and structures.

  • Creative Writing: Storytelling, screenwriting, playwriting, poetry, etc.

  • Fine Arts: Traditional and contemporary art practices, including painting, drawing, and sculpture.

Academic Programming

  • Tutoring Services: One-on-one or group tutoring sessions in various subjects such as math, science, language arts, and more.

  • STEM Clubs: Clubs focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics activities and projects.

  • Robotics Clubs: Clubs where students can learn about and build robots, often participating in competitions.

  • Coding Clubs: Clubs teaching programming languages and computational thinking skills through coding projects and activities.

  • Debate Teams: Teams that engage students in debate competitions, improving critical thinking, public speaking, and argumentation skills.

  • Math Competitions Preparation: Programs specifically designed to prepare students for math competitions like Math Olympiads or MathCounts.

  • Science Olympiad Teams: Teams that prepare students for science competitions by covering a wide range of scientific topics and disciplines.

  • Language Clubs: Clubs focus on language learning and cultural exchange, offering opportunities to practice speaking, reading, and writing in different languages.

  • Creative Writing Workshops: Workshops where students can develop their writing skills through various writing exercises and projects.

  • Arts and Crafts Classes: Classes offer instruction and hands-on activities in various art forms such as painting, drawing, sculpture, and crafts.

Unique Extracurricular or Mission Need

  • Mission Trips

  • Church programming

  • Unique opportunities or programming that can elevate the academic, emotional, confidence, or social aspect of children

Eligibility Requirements: Organizations, schools, community centers, and other entities serving low-income children are eligible to apply for funding through this program. Priority will be given to organizations that demonstrate a strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and community collaboration.

Grant Amount and Duration: Grant award amounts will be decided on an individual basis. The maximum request is $5,000. There is no guarantee you will get the amount requested.

Application Process: To apply for funding, interested parties must complete and submit a grant application form by the deadline indicated. Applications will be evaluated based on criteria such as individual and financial need.

Reporting and Accountability: Grant recipients will be required to submit a reflection of their participation and a photo to document their journey. This documentation will help us track the effectiveness of funded projects and ensure accountability to our donors and stakeholders.
